What is Cost appropriate learning?
If you wish to spend no money, and still receive a valuable education; welcome. If you wish to acquire credits or a degree, they are available at a cost that covers the administration and review of your education. BFU lets you combine distance learning and personal accomplishment. Bastiat Free University offers you cost appropriate learning tailored to your individual goals.
Learning for yourself at no cost sounds good; and for many that will be enough. Discover once again the pleasure of learning. Enter in and review our offerings, pick and choose as you wish. Grab some specific knowledge or learn to live as a sovereign individual in the information age. The choices are yours.
People do like to keep score; take away scoring from sports and most sports would vanish. If you find it important to have a goal, we offer Associate, Bachelor, and Master's degrees. You are probably wondering, "How much is 'cost appropriate' going to cost me?" We like to keep everything honest and up front at Bastiat Free University: All classes at BFU are available at no charge.
You only pay if you want credit toward a diploma from Bastiat Free University. The current one time (not each semester) enrollment fee is US$150.00 and the administration and review charge is $15.00 per unit, three units per course.
If all you want is a bit of specific knowledge, it's here, at no charge. If you want to learn the reasoning of great thinkers from prior generations, you will find it here at no cost also. If your goal is to escape the oppression of a local government; and establish yourself as a "sovereign individual," welcome home. Liberty is a byword here; welcome to Bastiat Free University.
Why did BFU create a new learning system?
The world is changing. The huge bureaucratic nightmares are a leftover from the industrial age. Informed solutions can now be made locally, not by distant central planers using "a one size fits all" approach. Decisions in this technology age should be made by those close to the situation, usually at a personal level.
A possibility for the emerging Network Society; everyone will be able to make choices and alliances as it pleases them, as long as it causes no harm to other's rights to do the same. This is the logic of self ownership; there is no virtue in an action that is forced upon you. What we therefore expect to be most important in the future will be your reputation, adaptability, and knowledge.
A degree looks fine on a resume, but if you manage your own business you need knowledge more than a diploma. Rediscover the pleasure of self directed learning. With each BFU class there will be a suggested reading list. If you wish credit toward a degree the reading is mandatory.
BFU offers an education that emphasizes adaptability, knowledge, and reputation. This is a Renaissance approach that integrates diverse knowledge and action, instead of forcing learning into separate subject boxes. Since public education forces everyone into a specialization, your rarity as a generalist will have great value (just as honesty has great value in an age of perfidy), and it is more fun. At Bastiat Free University you determine which classes you take.
Pursue your own goals.
Set your goals high. Achievable is not good enough. Too much is just right. Plan for a future that is scalable; if what you want is big, you want to be able to make it bigger. As you get close to achieving a goal, set a bigger and tougher one.
Keep learning, as you gain knowledge your goals can grow with you. I have found I enjoy reading more, and I learn more, when reading is not required. Pick and choose for yourself from our course reading lists, challenge yourself to grow. Our course work is here at no-charge. Free is a very good thing.
Many employers, schools and government licensing agencies will not accept degrees from an unaccredited university like BFU. If your life's goal is to be a wage slave, get a degree elsewhere to meet their requirements and then enter here to learn about the many freedoms you can acquire. You may want to investigate us first, it could save you many wasted years and tens of thousands of dollars.
The costs for BFU to acquire accreditation are so high, the benefits so low, we do not at this time chose to go that route. Of course we could raise the fees by 10,000% or so, charge extra for every little thing, and decrease the value of learning; but then we would be like everyone else. We are here to offer you quality learning at no or little cost. I guess we will have to stick to the road less traveled.
Explore your options, change your life.
My best advice: If you want a business education; start a business. Then keep studying how to improve your business. Get your degree here, later. You learn better and faster if you need the information.
Frédéric Bastiat probably would have objected to the modern definition of "University," derived from the Prussian model of a large, micro organized research and lecture facility under government supervision. We object to regulations defining achievement on an industrial scale, many of the regulations running counter to operating a reasonable and affordable learning environment. People are not machine parts to be processed in an orderly fashion. You are unique. You should have available a method to achieve a success defined by you. BFU exists to provide support to your goals and ambitions.
I think it was Einstein that said, "Nothing happens until something moves." If you want useful knowledge, and you want to earn that degree, and you don't want to waste a lot of money and time, now is the time to start studying at Bastiat Free University.
